Discuss Thor: Ragnarok

My main concern is the new characters and their look seems a bit "campy". hela looked absolutely amazing, but other than her, the look of the grandmaster and the extras looked like they could've been in the 80's Flash Gordon movie. I loved Thor's line about knowing Hulk from work! I think that represents the best part of Thor from his previous mcu appearances. it may be the funniest line in any mcu movie.

The Grandmaster's look is reminiscent of his brother the Collector's look in Guardians of the Galaxy. The look of the extras in Sakaar also take its queues from Guardians of the Galaxy to tie it's universe to the main MCU universe before they appear in Infinity War.

Given how expensive it is for Hulk to be on screen, I cant imagine we'll be in the Arena for long. There will be plenty of Hela and Dr. Strange scenes that won't look like a Care Bears Rainbow.

Agreed. It should be interesting to see Thor have to stand off against the Hulk using only his fighting prowess, without his precious hammer. I expect that's what the fight will be like.

I loved the trailer ....except for the "He's a friend from work!" part.

When I first saw Thor smile, I thought "Oh...he's happy that he gets to fight the Hulk"

But then it turned into "Thor is relieved that he doesn't have to fight the Hulk". Very out of character. Plus the line is cheesy and didn't fit in with the rest of the trailer.

Yeah, I thought that was an odd line for Thor.

Everyone else seemed to like the line. Go figure.

Dood...did you forget how the Hulk smacked Thor around in The Avengers? Thor may be a warrior to his heart, but...he's not stupid.

Hemsworth seems to have great comedic timing. So Taika Waititi tapped into that. Im sure we will be getting alot of moments like that in the film. Im actually looking forward to it now.

the whole superherocomicbook thing is a bit campy to be honest... i mean... all that spandex...

Edit... Just saw the trailer... is this the UFC of superhero movies? I mean, that's a logical point to end up at, but i didn't realise we had gotten there yet...

Got to say - I'm actually reasonably excited now about seeing this film for the very same reasons you're concerned by.

Coming in after GotG 2 it looks like Marvel might actually be going to change the tone of their pictures and at least move away from the painting by numbers identikit feel I've had watching the last few...

interesting... i think they're just going to make them all action comedies given the success of Guardians... which is probably not that bad an idea until it gets overplayed and tired... i don't mind it...

I just hope they wait until they start having all of these superheros fall in love with one another and they turn into soap operas... hahaha
