Discusión Doctor Strange

There is a lot to be said about Movie Release schedules and studio expectations. Doctor Strange did quite well and kudos to the films that were released around the same time vying for our entertainment dollars.

I think the Doctor made out alright for a relatively unknown character who deals in the obscure concepts of myriad universes and the mystic arts. Must we measure everything in dollars and cents?

Of course not. I enjoyed Doctor Strange much more than Fantastic Beasts and look forward to a reprisal of the further adventures of Dr. Strange and I have had just about enough of Eddie Redmayne. The two movies aligned themselves and warranted comparisons because of the subject matter. A Venn Diagram of the audiences would have a serious intersection for these two films. For me it is a shame that films are pitted against each other in the marketplace as if it is some Zero-Sum game for attention.

I just don't foresee any Comic-Book based movies gaining critical recognition besides technical nominations and awards.

I've just discovered Dr Strange by accident. Thoroughly enjoyable... Love the bits of humour thrown in. Special effects were awesome. Love Benedict, he makes a great Dr Strange. Although it did take a while to get used to his American accent. The end scene was a nice surprise grin

I nearly missed it.. don't miss the scene after the credits...

It wasn't the movie's fault the Marvel formula is getting old. They need to improve enough to keep things fresh.

I think they will eventually become victims of their success. The formula will be so beaten into the ground in a decade or so... I hope something changes between now and then. Hopefully the Avatar films can breathe some new life into the action/adventure genre.

I absolutely loved this film-- its my favorite of last year. The smart writing, humor, and acting really sold me on it. The villain is unfortunately weak but most Marvel villains are.

To say that all Marvel villains are weak is obv Imdb trolling..lol they can't stop that

There are only 2 successful villains, the Joker and Darth Vader..the only 2 villains who won.

They've painted themselves into a corner with their winning formula. It will be a serious challenge for them to innovate beyond the glib one-liners but, I think they're up for it.

I agree that it wasn't exceptional like other movies but it did better than average or what many people predicted.

It is true that Marvel needs better villains but the Civil War movie had a great villain in my opinion and some might say he win.

For a second or even third tier Marvel hero, I thought the box office was pretty good.

I like the doctor strange my favorite marvel character.

There is a saying , "If it isn't broke, Don't fix it"! I have no idea what the Marvel Formula is but Marvel has an overriding structure that they use to create their films. Included in that structure is variation.

Whatever Marvel and Disney is doing it is doing very well for them. Even the lesser and riskier properties have become hit films.
