The Sly Stone character you saw in the comics is known as "starhawk". He was the leader of the 1975 lineup and Yondu was part of this crew. It's pretty cool. You should look it up.
Adam Warlock in the comics was not created by Ayesha though. They both were created by a group of scientists called the enclave. It looks like the movie verse is going to change things a little bit but that's OK.

Yeah, the original gang was cool. Some great comics back in the good 'ol days. I got psyched when I saw what I thought must be Martinex. Thinking about them makes me yearn for a Dreadstar movie or series too.
Yeah it is crammed pack full of jokes but I think the tactic of delving deep into their characters and interpersonal relationships was actually genius for a sequel that can't move the plot all too far (since we are all just sitting on our hands waiting for Thanos in A3). The "plot" may not be great but I loved the stuff they did with the character's backstories.
Now that i have seen the movie. I have to disagree. While there is a lot of silly humor. There more then enough character development to go around. You have Gamora and Nebula realizing that they are both victims. You have Peter realizing that Yondu was his father after all. And Overall the story wasn't bad.
P.s. Iron Man 3 might have been a weak movie. But it wasn't bad.
Too much emphasis on humor, rather than plot/story.
I loved the first Guardians but the plot was a joke.
That's the main reason I loved the sequel more than the first one; the characters and plot development are a lot more satisfying.
Was hard to care much about the villain in part 1 while the arch involving Quill, his dad and the fate of his mother was much more compelling.
Though, I did find Iron Man 3 to be the most interesting of the Iron Man films, but I'm a big Shane Black fan.
They turned Iron Man's arch nemesis, The Mandarin, into a buffoon and gave Tony Stark a "mini-me" Disney pal right out of one their 1970's old Kurt Russell made-for-kids movies.
But the chief disgrace was what they did to The Mandarin. My feelings is that the B.O. power of China had tons to do with that move. Not only that, in China extra scenes featuring well know Chinese actors was inserted to make it even more appealing to the Chinese market!
This film was made while that jack-ass who nearly ruined Civil War was calling the shots in the Marvel\Disney top office. This was the turd he left behind.
I think it is why we'll never see a 4th Iron Man stand alone with Downey as he professed beforehand to love the Manadrin character in the comics.
Iron Man 3 was okay until the stupid plot twist with Aldrich Killian being the "real" Mandarin (and then All Hail the King revealing he wasn't after all).

I don't expect marvel movies to be masterpieces but this one was trash.
