Discuss The Mummy

I know, I know, with the myriad of problems this film had why would anyone care about the "sidekick" played by Jake Johnson. Well, let me just tell you, that it has been ages since I have seen a more useless and unnecessary role in a film. I assume he was brought in for some comic relief, but his lines aren't funny at any point and I suppose you can't consider his actions very funny either unless your idea of funny is cowardice or stabbing your boss. Not that any of the other characters were written much better. For instance you have the hotshot recon team going in to a close quarters battle completely outnumbered with their assault rifles blazing only to abandon their rifles for no logical reason a minute later. I'm not even going to start with Courtney B. Vances portrayal of a military general (or whatever high ranking officer he was)...I think even Chris Rock would've made a more credible leader.

No, no, I totally agree with you and think he was one of the biggest problems in the film. He really started to grate on me after the first 5 minutes of being on screen and what they do with him for the rest of the film is Jar Jar Binkian- he's that fucking annoying.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/rrT_CyvSp5c

Seems like they were going for a 'An American Werewolf in London' type comedy with the dead friend following him around. Yeah, it didn't work...or make sense.

I hated that character.

Its a little over played. Pet semetary and American werewolf have been parioded so much.

A bigger problem was that the female lead Jenny (Wallis) also was pointless and unnecessary. She didn't have anything to do and had no significant impact to the plot.

100%.The movie was terrible and had a lot of problems. He was definitely one of them."Thanks for bringing me back to life, where are we going?" 😮 Jeezus!
