I'm bummed Dracula Untold is no longer part of the "Dark Universe" despite hinting at being the first one when it was released.
It'd be cool if Universal changes their mind and just bring in Luke Evans to reprise the role! Luke rocks, and with the popularity of Beauty & The Beast and his Gaston character...it'd almost be a no brainer!

They really should just pull the plug already rather than wasting everyone's time and money. I really would like to know why Hollywood studios just like to keep wasting their own time and money to make these expensive movies that are poorly developed while they are hardly make anything back but still want to make the next films anyway, it's stupid.

They make multiples of that money through merchandising and such when these products/brands become more well known... this is how it works for disneys stuff and the comicbook stuff...
The movies themselves are just advertisements... profitable ads... this is the first of many to come in this line...

I think they should have just done the movie and built it up from there instead of planning all this out and announcing it advance. But then again why does everything now need to be part of a cinematic universe? Just make them standalone with hints at crossovers.

Well, Universal was just jealous that Marvel pulled their shared Universe with great reception of the said Universe and with great profit both US-wise and global-wise. So they decided, hey we have a bunch of famous monsters, let's cook up a shared universe too!!!! And let's copy the S.H.I.E.L.D. thing from MCU! The problem is Marvel was building their universe wisely, they built individual characters and their individual backstories first and they did it well, they focused on each of those characters, made people care for them (both for heroes and villains), before merging them into one shared story . The creation of Marvel Universe was carried out naturally. With Universal? They shouted from the rooftops before "The Mummy " even came out "WE ARE MAKING DARK UNIVERSE, PEOPLE!" They are so hellbent on making the Monster Universe that they sidelined everything else that was actually important - there is no actual development of characters, no interesting backstories, cause Mummy here is the most typical generic Mummy out there with flat "quest for power" narrative and even by the end she takes a back seat, so Tom Cruise's character can be the main cursed entity and de facto a new Mummy or whatever, while they were hastly putting any possible bit " this is about multi-verse" into the movie. You simply don't care about any of the new characters - Tom Cruise playing cursed Tom Cruise, female Mummy being used as a prop to curse Tom Cruise's character, Tom Cruise's female love interest being bland and having no personality whatsoever.
I mean, do they plan to make other iconic monsters so boring or misuse them as well? Dracula, Invisible Man, Phantom of the Opera? Thanks, but no thanks.
