Discuss The Revenant

That bear is still pretty badly done, in my opinion, even after all these years of CGI. I grew up on Old Yeller, which, despite being over 60 years old, had a much better bear fight scene than this one. I want the real deal. A less graphic scene with an actual bear would have been better.

Yeah the CGI is quite dodgy, it's hard to explain but there's a certain flow missing with the bear doing the actual mauling and Leo's reactions. I appreciate what they tried to do but when you know it's obviously fake it just takes you out of the scene.

One that did it well was The Edge, the bear attacks/fights were stellar and Bart was one intimidating monster. One of the best survival movies too.

You're more generous than I. I would appreciate the work put in if it weren't driven by the desire to save money. It's especially irritating as this is clearly a high-budget movie. Also, I assume it's harder to work with animals these days, given the animal rights issue.

The bear attack ruled. That lengthy fight had its surprises to it, and it kept me going with the film for quite awhile, I must say.
