I much preferred that they focused on the apes in this one. They were the protagonists. The human characters have always been the weak link in this franchise. Especially in Dawn where they were very cliche'd and I felt the film very predictable and unengaging as a result. What made the first film work so well was that Ceasar was the protagonist. And in this one I was blown away by how natural the apes looked and all their mannerisms. And I'm usually not a CGI fan.
