I LOVED the first movie, was laughing probably more then my kids were given all the older jokes squeezed in at every corner...
..watched this over the weekend...severely "kidded" down, a lot of the more adult jokes were GONE and the jokes just MISS. Even my kids didnt' care for it & they still LOVE the first Lego Movie..obviously, it underperformed at the box office all but cementing this film's inferiority. A shame though, was hoping the franchise would continue.

Both Lego movies are meta in that they reflect how people play with Lego. The first dealt with a kid and his father playing with Lego so the humor and adult jokes reflected that. This time it was about a brother and sister so the humor had to reflect that. It would have been weird to see adult humor in this. I liked this film a lot when I took what it was offering in context.
