The lines are cheesy. The plot is dull as dishwater. But yet I always find myself watching this movie every couple of years and it is not one of those it's-so-bad-it's-good films. To me it falls right in the middle, 5/10. Mediocre as the brainwashed characters in George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road are so fond of pointing out. I don't know if it is just the scope of what a monumental failure the attempt to launch this franchise is what appeals to me but I think it is precisely because at it's very core, the very bones, Riddick actually had great potential. We had an antihero with a mysterious past where the next thing more deadly than to simply befriend him was to get on his bad side. It's just too bad it had so many Blah moments that caused it to fail.
The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) - 5 outta 10 stars
