To me, it seemed the grand atrium looked well maintained. There was vegetation everywhere, but nothing was overgrowing the house or the where the hammock was...in the living area. There were chickens and birds and clear water...that makes me think someone is around taking care of things and living there. It's definitely open to interpretation as mentioned, but I think their kids are there. My guess is by the time the passengers wake up, there will be plenty that are their age, and hopefully they will become romantically involved. I'm guessing they planned when to have kids to make that work out that way.
Jim and Aurora could have had kids. If the Avalon were 88 years from its destination and Aurora squeezed out a couple of puppies within 5 to 10 years of meeting Jim, the kids could have conceivably been born, grown up and died within that 78-83 year window. And that generation most likely would have ended without an extended gene pool in order to procreate, unless they resorted to incest.
Or maybe they had kids but were able to figure out a way to put them in some kind of cryo with instructions that they be woken up when the ship reached it's destination.
well they could use one autodoc to make sure at least one of their children won't die on ship, so if they had only one child they could enjoy time with it until being adult and then put it in autodoc to hibernate

Or the limited gene-pool results in a Spaceship Has Eyes horror sequel!

True, but it will definitely guarantee that the child will behave themselves after they get out of cryo (that is, if cyro hasn't warped their minds).

I just got the DVD so I'm going to watch it again to see what the possible options may be.
