Discuss Sicario

So there is a sequel in the works, we'll have to wait to see it before deciding on whether it is good or bad...

But will it change the meaning of Sicario? Of this movie? Will it become an origin story for Alejandro & Matt, instead of a study of the frontier of drug warefare on one level and the betrayal of younger professionals by older ones on another, etc...

How quickly before it turns into a soap opera? Two more episodes? One?

I think it will basically stand on its own. It already looks like a redemption film for Alejandro as he tries to protect Isabela Moners character. Its still written by Taylor Sheridan so I have high hopes. It does look like they went with a more high action scenes from the trailers, but that might just be to get people interested. I hope they didnt cut any drama or character development to make room for the action. And I believe this is getting a June 29 release so pretty soon.

Interesting.... I like Taylor Sheridan's work, but I usually don't like serialised movies. The 'downer' ending of Sicario worked.

It should be interesting as he's teamed up with the director of Gammorah, which was not bad at all.

Ive never seen anything Stefano Sollima, the director, has ever made. So Ill be going in with virgin eyes. But from the trailers he def seems to know how to direct action at least. Im a fan of what Taylor Sheridan writes. But as we all know from script to final cut is a whole different ball game. The original script he wrote might only be used in 50% of the film, so who knows. I do wish Denis Villeneuve was able to come back for this one since I really like his work. Oh and I think Sheridan has said that Sicario was always meant to be a trilogy. So at least we know they just didnt throw something together just because the first one was a success. So thats reassuring in someways.
