Discuss Captain America: Civil War

We have Cap, Natasha, and Hawkeye. I find it interesting that of all the super heros it is Cap with the most respect and he has no powers.

He has powers.

First poster, that's because Cap earned his title fighting for his country long before the other Avengers were even born. When he speaks up, others have something to listen to, particularly if it has to do with conflict.

Also... he has powers!

There are 3 Avengers with no Powers, and Steve Rogers is not one of them. Of the original 6, the only other two Avengers with powers are Thor and Hulk. Thor is an Alien, and the Hulk is a monosyllabic rage monster. So it's not really surprising that Cap has the most respect. He is the first ever Super hero (with powers) which made him extremely famous. Most of the other heroes would have grown up idolising him as children.

Of the new Avengers, you have Vision who is an android, Falcon who has no powers, Rhodey who has no powers, Ant-man who has no powers, and Scarlet Witch who is a reformed villain.

So it's not really strange at all that Cap gets the most respect, if you think about it.

Cap does not have super powers.

Physical Attributes:

  • Height: 6'2"
  • Weight: 220 lbs
  • Eyes: Blue
  • Hair: Blond

Powers: Captain America represented the pinnacle of human physical perfection. He experienced a time when he was augmented to superhuman levels, but generally performed just below superhuman levels for most of his career. Captain America had a very high intelligence as well as agility, strength, speed, endurance, and reaction time superior to any Olympic athlete who ever competed. The Super-Soldier formula that he had metabolized had enhanced all of his bodily functions to the peak of human efficiency. Most notably, his body eliminates the excessive build-up of fatigue-producing poisons in his muscles, granting him phenomenal endurance.

Abilities: Captain America had mastered the martial arts of American-style boxing and judo, and had combined these disciplines with his own unique hand-to-hand style of combat. He had also shown skill and knowledge of a number of other martial arts. He engaged in a daily regimen of rigorous exercise (including aerobics, weight lifting, gymnastics, and simulated combat) to keep himself in peak condition. Captain America was one of the finest human combatants Earth had ever known.

Captain America represented the pinnacle of human physical perfection...that is not super powers, Stan Lee has confirmed this.

That was what I was getting at.

I think this must be the bit you were overlooking - been a long time since I seen it but I'm sure it was the same in the first Captain America film. Kind of similar to Spiderman I guess...

The "formula" wore off years ago. Spiderman is superhuman. Cap is not, He is the toughest human on the planet Its not me saying this....its Stan Lee!

Interesting, although was the formula itself not just to cause the transformation rather than have any lasting effect?

As it's "wore off" are you saying he'll revert back to that dweeby guy at the start unless he keeps getting his pump on?

Captain America represented the pinnacle of human physical perfection...that is not super powers, Stan Lee has confirmed this.

Are we talking about films or movies here? In the films, Cap is superhuman. If you don't know this, you either haven't seen any of the films, or you were snoozing through most of them.

  • Cap bends a steel railing with his bare hands. This is not "peak human", it is superhuman.

  • Jumps out of a plane into the sea from a height of hundreds of meters. Any "peak human" would have been dead.

  • Stopped a helicopter taking off. Peak human would have had his arm ripped off.

  • Took several guns shot wounds to the body. Walked it off. Clearly superhuman.

  • jumped off a 100 storey building. Landed on his shield and was fine. Superhuman, obviously.

  • Was blasted off a freeway with a bazooka. Recovered within minutes. Peak human would have been dead, in a coma with every bone in their body broken at the very least. Clearly cap is superhuman.

In The First Avenger, after Bucky dies, he tells Peggy he cannot get drunk.

Super Power!

I can name dozens of action movies where the charcter does "imposable" things, from Bruce Lee to Arnold. The only thing you mention that I had a problem with is that jump/fall from the shield building and it wasn't 100 sories, the glass cieling slowed him down and his shield is partilly made ob vibrainum which absorbs vibrations and shock.

Cap is superhuman. People saying hes peak lol, thas not true. Batman is peak human. He cant throw a motorcycle while doing a flip like cap did in Ultron.
