I know the general consensus for this film was "OMG awesome", but I didn't love it. I dunno, something about it made it hard for me to get sucked in. It was good enough, but fell short of my expectations.
I'm in the group that didn't really care for It Follows. The film had too many plotholes/flaws that I just couldn't look past. I also wasn't totally into The Witch, but that was mainly because I didn't like the ending.
Some of my favorite recent horror movies are Get Out, The Blackcoat's Daughter and The Eyes of My Mother.
I really liked the mood of the movie and how they built up tension... the premise was interesting as well... BUT I feel the third act was weak, especially in the pool gym scene with the toasters and such...

Oh ya! I forgot about the toaster thing LOL! That was a bit silly.
The toasters were VERY silly...pulled the movie down in a low-key way for me. Still, a good film that I'm hoping the writer-director can top with his next effort. Say, did anyone else catch the photo of the protagonist's father early on in the film?
Spoiler
The monster was imitating Jay's father in that scene with the swimming pool and the toasters.

I love it. I'm so glad good horror movies are being made again: this one, Get Out, The Babadook, The Wailing.

It had a few scenes that were really creepy.
This one and The Babadook tend to get a lot of praise and while they were both good, I didn't love them. ( I liked It Follows more than Babadook)
The recent horror release that I have _loved _ is The Witch and horror fans seem very divided over that one, but I thought it was excellent!

The Babadook was an okay movie for me. It had a few creepy scenes. But like you said, I didn't love it.
As for The Witch, I didn't care for it whatsoever. Just not my cup of tea.

Loved the Witch. It was such a unique and tense film. Probably my favorite recent horror film followed by It Follows and Get Out.

It's got a really good premise and the monster is very scary. The last act wasn't so hot. I did like how, in the end, SPOILER
the monster was still after the girl and her boyfriend.

I agree. What a unique and scary idea for the writer of this movie to even think of!
