Item: Ringu
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: This film and its sequels should not have a translated title if 'Ringu'. That is a title used in North America to avoid confusion with the remake and its sequels, but the correct translation (and the official one designated by the Japanese film creators) is 'The Ring'.
'Ringu' should be listed as an alternative title at most.

I'd like to get another moderator's opinion on this one before I change anything.

According to this article from The Guardian, the movie was released in the UK on Aug. 18, 2000 as "Ring." The BBFC also has the movie in their database as "Ring."
The current "Ringu" title seems to have come from a transliteration of the Japanese title and 2003 US DVD release where it was given Ringu as the English title.
Since the first English release was in the UK, the English title should probably be changed to "Ring" and "Ringu" should be added as an alternative title for the US.

Thank you for updating. Could this be extended to Ring 2 and Ring 0 as well as the title of the collection?

Consistency between titles is not a priority but It looks like both movies were released in the UK as "Ring 2" and "Ring 0" before the US release so the English titles for them have been updated (see my reports here and here).
It also looks like the collection's title has been updated since it's now called "Ring Collection" when I went to check it.
