Diskuter Dark City

Dark City is one of the best sci-fi movies ever for me. And i had such high hopes for the director. Waited every movie of his impatiently. What a dissapointment.
Gods od Egypt, what else can i say.

God yeah, I didn't even realise he directed that bilge. He did I, ROBOT which I though was good. And THE CROW, before DARK CITY, was top notch.

I don't remember much of the movie apart from that it had a cut every two seconds or so...

Movie is worth revisiting, imo...

I was dumbfounded when I saw a test screening of Garage Days. Horrendous.

I must be one of the only people who actually liked "God's of Egypt". Not that it was a great film, it wasn't. It was, however, a nicely imaginative and decent original high fantasy blockbuster NOT based on a previous book, movie, or franchise that left me pretty entertained for a couple of hours.

Go back and watch The Crow with adult eyes, here in '22. It hasn't held up particularly well, though it's hardly a terrible movie either. Dark City remains Proyas's stand out film. We probably shouldn't be so surprised though. This is more the rule than the exception insofar as directors go

Can you clarify what you mean? I have yet to find anything in "The Crow" that doesn't hold up. It's still a solid movie for me, even all these years later.

It's very much an outgrowth of the emo/goth verve that was newly emergent during the early 90s, before that subculture had become the self-parody that it's been since about '97 or so. Again, The Crow's not a terrible film, and has much to admire. It's still an inferior film in comparison to Dark City though

Ah yes. They' re two very different films though. "The Crow" is a solid, emotional action film, whereas "Dark City" I can easily call high concept postmodern noir, and definitely a cinematic masterpiece.

Add to that, Dark City gave us the fodder for one Mr. Skin's most memorable assessments: ""Breast of all, she showed off her melons, plus a glimpse of her furry koala".... In reference to Melissa George's nude scenes

Hahaha! That... is a very good point!
