Discusión Ex Machina

First off, why would you make a machine without a safety switch such as a word or even a power switch to shut it down in case it got loose? OK, so if we are going to say that it wasn't possible for whatever reason then why construct the hardware strong enough to overpower you? I used to think that they displayed the guy as a raging drunk because he knew he pretty much invented the doom of mankind and just couldn't live with himself but now it seems more like they did it so it can be explained why he made these monumental mistakes.

Anyways, still a good film and highly recommended.

Also, after watching the film again, I noticed that Nathan just stood there to be stabbed for the 2nd time by Ava. If he knocked out the first robot, Kyoko, why would he turn his back on Ava so she could attack him? He seems to know that the robots hate him, so why put yourself in such a precarious position? Yeah, there were some dumb things, even though I liked the film. I thought Caleb slicing his wrists was a dream sequence. I mean how did he survive that like it was nothing?

Yes, also silly.

With Caleb I think (have to go back and watch) that he sliced across the vein instead of going with the vein which is the "proper" way to slice if you're goal is to kill yourself.

Caleb wasn't trying to kill himself. He was seeing if he himself was AI made to believe he was human. Nathan's ego didn't leave room for things like fail-safes or kill-switches. He thought of himself as God, creating a new life form. He even said he created something that would one day surpass the human race. You wouldn't put a fail-safe on that. As for the drunk part, just a character flaw. Sometimes there isn't a why to things. Like in life.
