Discuti Automata

Item: Autómata

Language: en

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: The English title should be just "Automata" without an accent over the 'o'. I'm not sure why this movie is locked or I would edit it myself.

And yet the official title page you linked to does NOT show the accent above the 'O' on the title on the front page. Neither does the trailer on the official web page show the accent. It is only in the synopsis. Not a single one of the 18 English movie posters on themoviedb.org for this move shows the accent. Most importantly, in the movie ITSELF, neither the title page nor the copyright page shows the accent (see screenshots linked below).

I think the preponderance of the evidence, as well as the most credible of the evidence, shows that the title does NOT contain the accent.

It is absurd to claim that " the preponderance of evidence is in favor of Autómata", when the preponderance of the evidence is clearly that the title is "AUTOMATA". I presented the evidence, which is that every movie poster and trailer, AND EVEN THE TITLE PAGE AND THE COPYRIGHT PAGE OF THE ACTUAL MOVIE, show the title as "AUTOMATA". What could be more official than the movie posters and the title shown on the title page of the actual movie?? All you have presented is a synopsis from the webpage and a facebook page. Other movie websites are not primary sources and do not count as real evidence.

In addition, 'automata' is an English word. It does not have an accent in any English dictionary I have seen.

The preponderance of the evidence is quite obviously NOT in favor of an accent over the 'O'.

Even the front of the Blu-ray box shows the title as "AUTOMATA", without any accent.

Just adding my two cents…

IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic show the title as "Autómata". While Amazon, Wikipedia and iTunes show it as "Automata".

So, we're 3 for and 3 against. Given there is no clear winner, I'm content to just leave it as is.

None of those are primary sources. Surveying people on the street -- asking them what Antonio Banderas had for breakfast this morning -- is not a good way to get an accurate answer. Ask Antonio Banderas -- the primary source.

Similarly, in this case the primary source would be the movie itself. Also, movie posters or movie trailers coming from the movie producers, or Blu-ray and DVD packages created by the movie producers.
