This movie takes place in present-day Mali (during the 1950's when it was made, it was French West Africa) and is n intriguing tale of lost cities, treasure , madness and survival.

Just out of curiosity, I went to the geographic coordinates listed in the film, 23.5 degrees North and 6 degrees West, for their lost city and not to my surprise found nothing.

All in all, a good film.
