I see this film being memed alot online. Wonder why.

The 2nd half, while overlong, is effective as it shows how one group of people could feel itself superior enough over another that it could massacre many of them. One unusual directorial decision of having the main character, a little boy, age before our eyes must’ve been meant to show the soul-destroying effects of war upon those it affects.
