Gotta be among the worst & most disengaging remakes ever. Nothing worked here and any attempt to mock the original came off as vacuous and low-grade, especially when trying to "modernize" it. Even Rockwell slept through this thing but understandable considering what little he had to work with. Total waste of time & talent.

Yeah, taking a timeless classic and turning it into a run of the mill modern ghost story was pretty useless. Not a lot of creativity to be found here.

Basically the reshoot all the scary scenes from the original and made it boring. The only good part was Sam Rockwell

It is absolute garbage. Throw it in the Hollywood cash grab pile with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

I was toying with the idea of rewatching this one...having rewatched Poltergeist I, II & III this Halloween season and experiencing the AWESOME haunt at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights based on the original film (best house this year)! I noticed FXM had it on this morning, so may watch it via the FX app on my phone, JUST for giggles (& be a completist of some kind..lol)....
Having Sam "Evil Dead" Raimi as a producer and Gil Kenan, the director of the VERY awesome (& Halloween Favorite in my household) Monster House, my hopes were high for this one...not sure what the he77 happened! Studio interference?! Too many chefs in the kitchen?! This movie shouldn't have been as bad as it turned out! This is the bottom of the pile of remakes...down there with the Psycho, Fog & Nightmare On Elm Street re-do's!

I agree. One of the worst remakes out there. Just no real effort in the creeps department. Just a shoot-by-numbers Hollywood turd.
