Nightcrawler is so compelling because it respects us enough not to lecture us about the protagonist. We're repulsed of our own volition (or not!). A movie made for adult, no exposition or TV/Superhero-movie like over-explaining.
Reminds me of the "economic man" we learned about in business class. all of economic thinking is based on this. scary
Lewis is "economic man", only speaks in MBA language, is focused on growth & control; an anthropomorphised corporation... A psychopath.

Somewhat on point in corporate description, but you do realize that each government, each country is a functioning corporation, right? Corporate existence doesn't end with business, but extends, actually transcends each corporate business individually, into each country as a corporation itself, thus also making each government a player in their own corporation. Just making sure you're aware of this fact. Many people limit their economic and business knowledge, and focus exclusively on typical corporations when their entire government is part of a much bigger corporation- their country is a corporation.

Ever heard of the concept of the Corporate Psychopath? Applies to business founders and leaders, and to one or two presidents as well.

"Corporations are people too" - Mitt Romney
The film was definitely having a pop at the news business. Whether it was providing a commentary on modern capitalism, I'm less sure. But parallels can be drawn.
