I am slightly confused... the movie you are reporting about is the first one, but the title you want to add is for Volume 2, which is already correct on Volume 2.
As for your other point, data is locked to prevent vandalism; if we don't, someone may come along and mess with it incorrectly (which we've had to deal with in the past).

Can you provide some sources for this? I checked the main German sites and none used the "volume 1" title. I also checked some of the newspaper reviews that were still available from that time, and again, none used that title. German Wikipedia, some posters and a later DVD release seem to prefer your title, but I think we need more than that to change it. (The posters currently added to the German translation was likely based on the now changed original title. Not sure.)

I would say its 50/50 half of the german sites use Volume 1 the other Vol.1 http://www.filmstarts.de/kritiken/28541.html http://www.moviepilot.de/movies/kill-bill-volume-1-2 , it's already added as alternative title so I don't know how to decide

Does anyone have access to the original German DVD/VHS? It's always a bit risky to rely on secondary sources.

This is old but still open. Whichever English title is used Vol or Volume is irrelevant! Unless it has some kind of DE text a clean image with no DE text would make it an EN image!
Not sure what the problem is. Sure DE might use an EN image but tmdb needs to store it as EN!
Why? 1. Nearly identical images stored everywhere! 2. Makes it difficult to find best image!
Simple..., the rub is like Luc Besson movies FR or EN? Those few would require a mod call!
