I mean the topics include the attempted(?) rape of a minor, psychiatric illnesses, involuntary psychiatric treatment and lobotomy among others etc. You'd kind of expect those topics from an indie movie that is trying to win awards at the Sundance festival or is fishing for an oscar. Not really the stuff you'd expect from a fairly high budget (82 million apparently) movie aimed at the masses. Also doesn't help that I imagine the story itself can be kind of hard to follow for the average viewer. All in all a pretty mediocre movie with some nice visuals.

I myself was greatly disappointed with the outcome. You could say this was the film that kinda blew it for Snyder. He was flying high doing films based on materials that were on previous mediums and were quite successful ( Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen) but this was his first go at something he wrote himself and what a fkn disaster it turned out to be. I actually remembered feeling gut punched after walking out of the theater because I was expecting something so much better but it turned out to be something utterly mediocre.

I enjoyed V. Hudgens' contribution, with the few lines she actually had to speak. The whole lobotomy scenario made me sad for the character who experienced it toward the film's end. What else is there to write? Yeah, the film really sucked.
