It was with some pensiveness that I went to see The Peanuts Movie in theatre, because I was afraid they might try to pander to what they think adults want by shoving in sexual innuendo and double entendre, and I just wanted to somehow return to how it felt to read Peanuts cartoons when I was a kid in the '70s.
This development team is awesome. The effort and lengths to which they went to stay true to, not only the innocence, but the aesthetic and texture of Charles Shultz' creation should be taught in film school.
Here are two articles that capture their approach, showing that they had an intention, devised a process to pursue it, and — in my humble opinion — got it absolutely right.
