I rewatched this movie on STARZ due to my recent dating someone who...has a very "promisious" past & my having issues dealing with it.
I came from a strict religious upbringing and also just got out of a 18 year marriage some 2 short years ago and have dated (& had s..3.x) since then, but finally met someone I'm REALLY crazy about...someone I feel I can fall in love with. About a month or so into our dating she flat out told me she had "been around", made NO apologies about it, and felt it was something she HAD to do in order to figure out what she really wanted. Let's just say her number of lovers easily Quadruple mine (my number is small though, mostly in part for getting married so young and STAYING FAITHFUL for 2 decades). Unlike me, she was single for 15+ of the 18 years I was married...and has had her share of lovers....granted, no "finger cuff" situations (lol), but some years, she must've averaged 3-5 lovers a year...including several 1 night stands (argh! I've never had even ONE!)
Rewatching this movie it definitely hit home...as much as I like this girl, I can't help but think of her as being "used", being a "h0e" and other horrible things...as Hooper says in the film, why do men think they're "Marco Polo" when it comes to a women? I HATE myself for still letting her past occasionally cloud my mind & judgement, but the movie definitely HELPED put it in perspective....the past is the past and if I feel I wanna be with this girl, I have to accept her unapologetic Promiscious past.
Love this film & is arguably Kevin Smith at his story telling best and my timing in re-watching this film couldn't be better.
