Alec Baldwin has had his share of memorable off-the-rail monologues. This one is likely #2, right behind "Put that coffee down! Coffee's for closers. ABC - Always Be Closing!"

I didn't see this, but I loved the woman's retort to his line in the commercial: "Ask God how many drinks he had before he cut me open."

It was kind of a weird movie (the whole sub-plot...er, I won't spoil it for you). But you should watch it - by the time you get to that line, it will take on an entire next level dimension for you.

The monologue is worth watching in it's entirety... so good... actually, I think the whole deposition scene is good to get the right context if you don't have time or interest to watch the whole film... the movie itself is a bit of a mixed bag, but that scene is great...
They don't have these kinds of characters in films anymore... They should, especially since they exist in real life!
So glad Baldwin is still around and doing his thing...

Looks like I'm a little late to this party, Alec Baldwin was totally amazing in this movie. And Nicole Kidman's buttdouble....whoooot.

There's a great call back to this in 30 Rock. Jack is in confession listing his worst sins and says
"I once claimed 'I am God' during a deposition."

Not sure it "pales." That monologue you mentioned is indeed one of the greats but, I'll be honest, when I heard that this movie was Jeffrey Dahmer's favourite, I'm turned off from the movie a bit, because that dude when and did all kinds of unspeakable things to real people. Yes, I'm very sure that your garden-variety serial killer likely liked a movie that I did, too. Nevertheless.... Baldwin's monologue is edgy without having to resort to the macabre and demonic, which makes it far more chilling in my estimation as the likelihood that any of us or our loved ones might run into a doctor out there "playing god" than we would some demonic force or serial killer acting out his horrible fantasies.
