A few points about this film.

- The late 80s/ early 90's series of books (Film Flubs) mentioned this movie and how the Vietnamese beach in the film faces west and it says it's a mistake and how beaches in Vietnam face east. Look at a map of Vietnam and see how the southwestern part faces west on water. Also, other beaches in Vietnam could also be looking west if they are on a small peninsula that points upward.
- I do not believe they brought up in detail the biggest reason to fight Ho Chi Minh and that was his 1950s slaughter of landlords. ( See my postings.) But, Aldo Ray pointing out how the North Vietnam and Vietcong I think also as well have weapons from rich mass-murdering commie countries like the Soviet Union was a good second best reason for the US to fight Ho.
- Jim Hutton had been in the real US Army and stationed in Germany so he could bring his real life military expertise to his role.

Seems to me that if the weapons were coming from commie countries like the Soviet Union, and communism was the problem, then wouldn't it have made more sense for the US to fight...the Soviet Union?
Besides, I know an even bigger communist country: China. Why wouldn't the US just declare war on China? Funny thing about China is, they backed North Korea in kicking USA's butts back south of the border, and they backed North Vietnam in kicking colonial France and her allies including the USA out of Vietnam. I guess we know the answer: if USA declared war on China, China would just kick America's butt yet again.

The mass-murder in the land reform of 1950s North Vietnam by Ho Chi Minh is the most important in Vietnamese history. Their whole country founded in the blood of slaughtered landlords.
