One of the most esteemed Stanislavsky Method actors is not playing the German fugitive leader. That is Eric Portman.

What does Rod Steiger have to do with this film? He would have been 15 years old when this film was made, a little too young to play Hirth.

If they had remade this film in 1965 Steiger would have been a good choice to have had Portman's role in the remake.
