Discuss Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I was looking for something to distract me as I did my cardio for a couple hours and saw this on Amazon's for free. I hadn't seen it in a long time and it's crept up to four out of five stars on their rating system so I decided to give it another look. It wasn't as bad as I remembered, at least until the nonsensical ending. The action was fair, though the CG monkeys and prairie dogs were pretty off-putting. But Harrison Ford looked like he was still in fighting shape--of course, it was filmed ten years ago--and the supporting cast was decent.

I think the problem, as others have said before, is that they tried for too much silly humor rather than keeping it grounded like the first one. Cate Blanchett was way, way too over-the-top, which is sad because she can be a very subtle actress. Karen Allen and John Hurt were painfully UNDER-used. And Shia, well, the kid should have been thankful that Spielberg put him in the movie, yet he shat all over it after the movie premiered. He's one of those actors that has the talent, but comes off almost completely unlikable onscreen.

As I said, until the end with the trans-dimensional aliens (whose reaction to being restored seemed...really weird), and the subplot with turncoat...er double-agent...er triple-agent....no, just turncoat Ray Winstone that was utterly pointless, it was a passable movie. I keep hoping that Indy 5 closes it off right, gives Marion something INTERESTING to do, and kills off Mutt.
