One of the most bizarre performances I have ever seen. He seems as if he was whirled in from a stoner comedy - truly, I found him so relentlessly weird that the film's sad, doom-laden mood was wrecked, just a little, by his presence. There's still plenty to admire in River's Edge, but am I alone in finding his performance awful? I do realise that he has many admirers and perhaps I just didn't respond to whatever it was he was aiming for.

Ya I agree, the movie is a serious drama/thriller and he is almost incapable of acting serious, still a great flick. I guess if he wasn't in it it would be much darker to a neo noir
