I just saw Vibes for the first time in years, and I'm happy to say it still holds up. Cyndi Lauper is great. I have to wonder why she didn't do more movies. The most memorable scene for me is when she disarms an evil psychic who has her at gunpoint by channeling his mother. I love how the gag plays out with Jeff Goldblume and Peter Falk carrying her board-stiff out of the room. Vibes reminds me of a mix of a lot of 80s classics. There's a little Ghostbusters early on, a little Romancing the Stone, etc. But it's not entirely derivative, either. And I'm happy to report, Vibes still holds up. Wait, I said that. Okay then.
