Discuție Spectre

Rumors are flying around that after the next Bond film they might try to switch it up with a black Bond or a female Bond. What are your thoughts on this? I dont really mind if they turn Bond black, as long as they keep the essence the same. But a female Bond...that just seems to hard to do and sell to the core fans. I mean is she going to be slinging dick left right? Moneypenny going to be a a dude? I just dont see it working at all. Ghostbusters and soon Oceans 8 are all females remakes/re imaginings and I dont think it worked out/will work out very well. Especially if they alienate the main core fans.

Place your bets now on a black female Bond.

What difference does it make?

They already "switched it up" by handing the role to that beefy Sid James lookalike. And now he's a very old looking beefy Sid James lookalike. Whatever we get next can only be an improvement...

I don't want a female Bond of any color. Although if there WAS going to be a female Bond, I would like Rebecca Ferguson to play 007. And I STILL think that Idris Elba would be a good Bond. And if Idris Elba wasn't available, then I would want Chitiwell Ejifor. There, I said it!

Nobody is bothered by the fact that Ian Flemming had THIS in mind for 007?

Ummm since when do we need the source material for a film??

A new 007 doesn't have to be named Bond. James Bond wasn't the ONLY 007. I wanted either Elba or Colin Salmon back before they chose Craig. I like his Bond films.

He had that in mind for James Bond but no one is born called 007.

Geezus...

Fleming had a type in mind. Why deviate from that? Especially after a half century of James Bond movies? Why is it OK to cast a different race or gender as James Bond? Sure, a 007 agent could be any race or gender, but are we talking about James Bond here or merely a 007 agent? The movies aren't called "007," now are they?

His name is Ian Fleming, ONE M!

Just watched OHMSS - It reveals that James Bond wasn't the ONLY 007 called James Bond!

At the beginning, George Lazenby's Bond says "This never happened to the other fella". Referring of course to Sean Connery's previous 007 who coincidentally also must have been called James Bond, otherwise the "other fella" bit makes no sense...

In fact it may be even more complicated than that - a little midget dude is whistling the Goldfinger theme at one point as Lazenby passes. This leads me to believe that it is possible that Lazenby's Bond is the REAL James Bond working in the Secret Service, with Connery's Bond coincidentally being a known fictional film character within that Universe (hence the theme being known). This theory is perhaps given further weight later on by Lazenby's Bond pulling replica pieces out of drawer from the Connery films. I think this shows he must have been a fan of those "fictional" in-universe Bond films...

This would also explain why the real Blofeld doesn't recognise Bond despite supposedly going up against him in the previous film.

Just thinking - DAF also fits in with this theory. Bond makes no mention of Tracy's death nor does Blofeld (which surely he would have taunted Bond with).

Plus Moneypenny asks him to bring her a diamond engagement ring back from Amsterdam which would be unbelievably crass!

Therefore we can conclude that in-universe cinematic adventure follows directly on from YOLT...

Like LansingFan, I like the idea of Mr. Elba as Bond. A female Bond would most likely contradict all of the cool machismo that the character's supposed to personify... you just can't have it both ways, damn wokeness.

If Elba says he's not handsome enough to play J.B., I say he's operating on false modesty, esp. since winning People Magazine's "Sexiest man alive" title a few years back.

Like I said above I wanted him back before they chose Craig. I think he is very sexy, up until now his best role (IMHO) is Luther. But I think he's a bit too old now if they chose him for more than one or two films.
