I loved this film when it came out - the Daft Punk score was sensational and it was gorgeous visually; fantastic viewing in imax.
For whatever reason it wasn't considered a commercial success, Disney dropped it, bought Star Wars instead and the rest is history...
But, in terms of legacy, this film was excellent - the whole missing / search for Flynn storyline was well done . He was still shown as flawed - Clu's search for the perfect system ultimately his failing - but the character went out a hero, saving his son.
I haven't seen Blade Runner 2049, so can't comment on that, but as far as the more recent Star Wars, Terminator, Alien, Predator, Ghostbusters, Star Trek, James Bond efforts go is this the only film which actually respected it's source and stands as a worthy follow up?
