"The Fourposter" was originally a play by Jan de Hartog. When it was turned into a movie in 1952, they changed the name to "The Fourposter" and the script was written by de Hartog and Allan Scott. Stay with me now; here is where it gets interesting. They rewrote the closing scene of the movie. It is different from that of the play. The play ends with the elderly couple about to move from the house and the question as to where the sentimental pillow should be placed. In the movie, the husband has been dead for some time, and his ghost comes back to escort the wife to the next life, as it were. I AM DESPERATE to find out what the last lines of the screenplay are. The film seems to be unavailable. The screenplay appears to be available only for sale at $300 or so. Can anyone tell me the husband's last lines to the wife in the screenplay? Thank you
