Nonsense. Insurrection was probably the best of the TNG movies, but GTFO comparing it to ESB.

You'd be a rare fan if you ranked this the best of TNG movies. It consistently makes the worst movie of the entire canon (including the reboot movies) in people's rankings.

There's a lot wrong with this movie and I'm not going to waste time dissecting it. But I will say that it is basically a TV two-parter (it's hard to see where the money went making it), and one of those laboured stories that Trek has always struggled with going right back to TOS.

It's said that the beginning of fiction starts with the question 'What if...?'. But that question cannot be trivial. It can be intimate, as in 'What if a boy loves a girl who doesn't love him?' It can be big, as in 'What if the Earth were threatened with an alien invasion?' But the question has to matter to an audience at some level or other. The question of 'what would happen if just about everyone wanted something that only a very few people had?' is so mind numbingly stupid that even those mere 16 words would make you sound like an idiot. So what do the makers of this movie do? They turn it into a nearly 2 hour long feature film.

To put this in perspective: if 600 people were in possession of something here and now in 2021 that was a guaranteed, and only, cure for Covid19, and for the entire planet, could you possibly support the right of those 600 not to share it? Of course not. But that is exactly what the writers of this nonsense want us to cheer for.

As for all the relationship nonsense going on in the background: garbage. And boring garbage too.
