1 Jodie Foster was cast for TLG before Martin Scorsese cast her for Taxi Driver.

And because the later film was no leading role, the true discoverer of JF's awesome talent is director Nicolas Gessner. In 1974, when Scorsese did some post-production for Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, it happened he invited Nicolas Gessner to the studio. Gessner, in the US for casting, pre-production and development of TLG, knew JF was exactly what they looked for. And according to him, he also knew right away she'll make it to super stardom. "With a real star you can stop a movie at any frame, he or she will always look great." It was the following, early January when they signed her. Taxi was one or two month later. In a way it wasn't the Oscar nomination for Taxi but the Saturn Award in a leading role that made her first real big prize.
