Disney subcontracted this film out to be made, that’s how little they thought about it, but some of the talent on the film later created Pixar.
Brave Little Toaster is the journey of a group of appliances to rejoin their former owner. It’s fun but a little dark. There is a persistent sense of death and abandonment throughout the film. It certainly doesn’t feel like a Disney film and is all the better for it. I saw this as a young teen and it has resonated with me over the years. Despite the low budget, I consider it one of the best tradition animated Disney efforts in the past 40 years.
