I thought I'd enjoy seeing Jim Carrey in an '80s vampire comedy, but this movie was just boring and unfunny.
When did you see it? And, how old were you when you saw it? Once in a while, that matters, being the intended audience at the time. To watch it for the first time after that can be difficult.
Did you get to the dance scene? That was worth the price of admission. Jim Carrey's gift for physical comedy translates well to choreography and if you can remember, or envision, watching this as a randy teenager, Karen Kopins looked way hot in this sequence.
Otherwise, yeah, it's a middling 80s comedy, but one that has a rather dark side that's unfortunately betrayed by the cringeworthy final chase sequence.
And, much like Ace Ventura Pet Detective, it didn't age well when it comes to LGTBQ+ slurs and stygmatizing.
