Weird thing about this film

Was watching a bit of this on the box the other night and, perhaps disappearing under all the Jar Jar, "yippee!", etc complaints, is that weird guy piloting Padme's ship!
This was the first pilot we came across post Han Solo and he's this not exactly photogenic balding dude with zero percent charisma. Wonder how that dude managed to get that role...
