Discuss Return of the Jedi

So there is that moment when the mind trick doesn't work and then Luke is pulling a blaster out of the holster of a nearby thug... let's suppose no one intervened or they intervened too late - Luke kills Jabba with the blaster (let's also suppose it's a one hit kill), and then... he gets swarmed by hundreds of thugs from all directions.

Uhh... I don't see how there is a way out of this for him, especially considering the fact that R2 has his lightsaber.

So my reading of the scene is that Luke was reckless and did not think this move through... at all.

Anyone has a differing opinion on this?

I always thought he wanted to be captured at that point. He knew he had people on the inside and when his plan A didn’t work, I always got the feeling that his plan B was to get captured. I don’t think he expected to be dropped in the cellar.
