Why did Spock Prime have his belongings with him in the first place?

He was certainly feeling sentimental with that group picture of the Enterprise crew.

Pretty sure he went in fully nude, but i could be confusing his scene with Terminator

Spock really needs to show that pic to Kirk and Scotty.
Beware the future men! Stick to the gym. Stay away from the pies!

But you get what I'm saying, right? Spock is taking the jellyfish ship on a mission to save Romulus, and the logical Spock stops to think about and then gets his personal effects to take along with him? It was a great moment in Beyond, but the set up was flawed.
Or is this one of those situations where you're not supposed to think that much like Star Trek fans tend to do, and just enjoy the moment?

It's a good point and one I hadn't even considered when I watched the film. Was it just the photo or was there other stuff? Because if its just the photo he could have easily had a digital copy. He's been living in the Kelvin time for years now. Plenty of time to get it printed and framed for his office.

It was definitely a collection of things...the photo was just one of the items. But you make a good point...it could have been things he had accumulated in the Kelvin Universe, and the picture could have been on him somehow. Who knows how they carry dogital pictures around in the 24th Century...maybe in his fingernail!
