The Fandom Menace is vindicated. I really wonder how this will do in cinemas over the weekend. I feel like it will break a billion eventually but I dont think it will be a success considering how much they spent on re shoots, not to mention the standard x2 cost for marketing.

my guess is they will have to make around 800 million to break even also taking into account the amount of money they paid for these shills and the mass media to positively promote the movie.So even if it makes over a billion and that is a big if because China isn't that into Star Wars to begin with. Plus the fact they only receive like 50-75% of the total oversees revenue a 200 million dollar profit is very poor for a Star Wars movie. Add to that the steep dwindeling Star Wars merchandise figures(which used to be the biggest earner for the franchise)

Star Wars is such an iconic part of pop culture it's hard to imagine ROS doing under a billion but the reaction from fans and critics is mostly negative. Cluttered, rushed storyline, too much unnecessary fan service - Palpatine's return! - silly humour. And even if you love ROS it does undermine the ending of ROTJ.

Luke saved his father and defeated the Empire/Palpatine!

Er.. no... the First Order (basically the Empire with a new name) and Palpatine returned a few decades later. From what I've read, no decent explanation how he returned. The Force Awakens didn't give fans a decent explanation how The First Order rose to power. We start the film with TFO controlling the galaxy. Yeah, nice way to honour the ending of ROTJ, J J Abrams. (sarcasm to the max).

Anyway, good, bad or indifferent, the saga has finished so if we get more trilogies Disney/Lucasfilm will have to come up with something vaguely fresh. They won't rehash the Skywalker vs Empire storyline. Hopefully no more screenplays by Abrams/Kasdan/Terrio or Johnson.

Yeah that whole idea that they stole everything from Luke and Anakin just so Rey can claim everything as hers is bad in so many ways.It is a giant FU to all previous six movies, our beloved characters ,the fans, and George Lucas

My guess is that Abrams original ideas for the second movie were to explore the First Order and Snoke as main antagonist further to go deeper into the Captain Phasm and Finn antagonism (which could have made the Finn character really interesting),see Luke train Rey and that at the end of the movie we have a Rey-Kylo Ren showdown ending on a cliffhanger that Rey is either related to Kylo in the vein of ESB or that Kylo Ren manages to seduce Rey to the Dark side.It would have created a perfect opportunity for Luke in the third movie to face Snoke and Kylo Ren and to bring Rey and possibly Kylo Ren back from the Dark side by dying heroically and with meaning and that Rey and Ben Solo together defeat Snoke and the first order.But that is my guess.

How much will TROS suck? The metric will have to be on a galactic scale, which is kind of fitting. I'm personally hoping for fiscal losses greater than that of Terminator: Dark Fate.

Currently sitting at 59% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that's hardly believable since Disney pays off critics!

The IMDB comments are HORRID..a lot of hate, but also a lot of 1/10's, which is hardly a fair assessment (a 1/10 is WORST movie ever and I'm sure this isn't THAT). I was trying to make an attempt to watch it this weekend with the kiddos, but I got too much going on already...I have better things to do, plus any reason NOT to give the mouse any of my hard earned money is a GOOD thing!

*A LITTLE SPOILER (opinion) anyways you nailed it.... everything you said it happens lol, it was so predictable. Terrible movie, weak characters. Not to blame the actors. Action scenes and FX are amazing but it's a movie with no story to tell.

Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter is stupid and makes no sense. If Palpatine had a child, who was it with?? and why didn't he take that child and start indoctrinating it in the ways of the dark side of the force and brainwashing it to be utterly loyal to him starting from when it was an infant?? That is what I would do, and I think that would have been easier than turning an adult to the dark side of the force.

88% audience score on RT right now. That just dosent seem legit to me. I mean the critics hate it but the brain dead fans love it? What is this bizzaro world? I think predictions are $160+ million opening which would make this the only film in the new trilogy to not debut over $200 million in its first three days. Christmas week/weekend will probably help it alot in the long run but I just dont see this breaking a billion anytime soon.

RT is a rigged scoring system. RT doesn't include any scores lower than 2 stars in the average. Fresh is anything that is 3.5 or above. Also the score they present on the web site is based solely on tickets sold through Fandango. You have to click through to the All Audience to get the ratings from everyone. But still, it is culled to exclude any scores below 2 stars. I would trust Metacritic over RT.

You should be more of a glass half empty guy when it comes to movies then you won't inevitably get disappointed.
