It took me some time before I decided to watch this, because I just hated The Force Awakens, and the film lasts nearly 2 hours and a half! I just had to watch it, Star Wars having been an important part of my life (I'm 29 by the way).
It goes without saying that I do not appreciate Disney at all for how they're ruining the Star Wars franchise and have not given them one cent after I've watched The Force Awakens at the cinema.
So I "acquired" the Last Jedi and as soon as I started watching it, I was hooked. The very first few seconds following the opening crawl are basically a disclaimer saying "Warning, this is not a real Star Wars film. You're in for over 2 hours of pure action and comedy taking place in your childhood's favourite universe". This film is a big budget fanfiction, a parodying homage to Star Wars. It is basically between the Star Wars prequels and Spaceballs.
There are so many memorable scenes, such as the bombardment in the beginning, the casino part, the drunk Benicio del Toro, Luke's silliness, etc.
While J.J Abrams tried so hard to make his film a "real" Star Wars and failed miserably, Rian Johnson simply went ahead and did his own thing, knowing that Disney had no interest in continuing Lucas' work anyway, and he did it really well. I must add that the film was visually stunning too.
I really had a great time watching it, taking for what it is: a glorified fanfiction.

Yep Georges Lucas should never have sold her baby. Now Walt Disney going to destroy a masterpiece. The last film is just a joke there is a lot of scene that is a copy/paste of episode 4-5-6.For kid it a ok film but for old fan it something else. Lucas you left your fans for money now you pay the price.Do not come crying after.

I don't think Lucas needed any extra money.

Only fan fiction films usually don't have a $200+ million (plus $200million for advertisement)budget.

The musical tastes of a poster tells a lot about his tastes in movies I guess.

Well, I can admit that while TLJ left me cold, Luke drinking from a space cow tit sure was an eye-opener.

Seems to me that Lucas was doing a pretty good job in destroying a masterpiece himself with his prequels.
While J.J Abrams tried so hard to make his film a "real" Star Wars and failed miserably
Making a profit of a billion dollars is generally not considered failing miserably, and thereviews were overall favourable.sure it wasn't the most original script but it at least made sense and there were some interesting set ups for new characters like Phasma,Snoke and Rey.
Rian Johnson simply went ahead and did his own thing, knowing that Disney had no interest in continuing Lucas' work anyway, and he did it really well.
RJ brushed aside an already in place story arc developed by Abrams(at least according to interviews with Daisy Ridley ) and was given cart-blanche without exactly knowing what to do with the story besides the orders from Kennedy to go the opposite of expectations in any way possible without delving further into things that were brought up in the previous movie(which a good sequel usually does)or resolving them in most dumbest and simplistic fashion .

I am afraid he's quite serious
