Not a big deal but I just thought it was a little odd when Luke said that to Rey when he was asking her what exactly she was expecting him to do.

He referred to it as a laser sword not a light sword.

Yes. It was supposed to be "clever" I guess but it just took you out of the movie.

Well thats because the guy the hired to write the movie had no idea what Star Wars is about.

I bet the one who found it the most odd was Mark Hamill.

It just shows that the retarded idiot Rian does not know a thing about Star Wars.

It was written to denigrate Star Wars itself. "You think what? I'm gonna walk out with a laser sword and face down the whole First Order?"
It's a deconstruction of the traditional Star Wars narrative, something previously done in Knights of the Old Republic II (with much greater effect). Had Rian Johnson been given a trilogy - with new characters and new worlds - the exploration of such themes would have been very interesting. They were instead shoehorned into an established story with established characters and the effect is absolutely jarring. The Last Jedi is a failure, pure and simple - but you cannot blame the walls for breaking when the foundation was poured into quicksand.

Actually, it's the opposite. Laser sword is a reference for what George Lucas used to describe Lightsabers that always make fans cringe.

Does not matter. In the previous 7 movies there isn't a single time the weapon is called a laser sword. Not once. It is always called a lightsabre and it has nothing to do with lasers anyway. No in-universe character would ever call it a laser sword.

Not true. They are referred to as that in Phantom Menace. Anakin says, "I saw your laser sword. Only Jedis carry that kind of weapon."

True but he also says jedis instead of jedi as plural. He is a 10 yeard old slave living on a backwater shithole planet so it's quite natural to me that he doesn't know shit about facts.

Remember, Luke also grew up on the same backwater shithole planet, so probably picked up the term from there. Even as an aged Jedi, Luke is still a hick.
