Easily one of the best and most satisfying of the series. They do some things you do not expect which really sets up Episode 9 well. Non Spoiler link below.

I really enjoyed the movie, even though I haven't watched a Star Wars movie post-80's.

No sure if this was really a 5/5 effort 🤔

Ugh, I suppose you've already necro'd this old thread so I don't feel AS guilty commenting, but WHY necro a thread by a guy that only posts links to his site on TMDB? In reality, I don't give a wet handful of shit what some shill from skewed rates a movie.

Well, I was looking through the old threads for something else and I thought this was pretty funny because (as per your own comments too) the OP doesn't really contribute here other than to post links to his own movie "reviewing" blog.
This wasn't just a pass, countering all the criticisms, this was a 5/5, i.e. a masterpiece / an all time great review. I don't normally read the linked reviews but this one is priceless, finishing:-
Writer/Director Rian Johnson has done a masterful job in crafting a new entry into the series that not only entertains, but gives a deeper and dark look at the universe which makes the film easily one of the best Star Wars films ever made. There are sequences that will delight and surprise fans, and when it was over and I could catch my breath and reflect upon what I had just seen, I found myself saying that I could not have asked for a better sequel as it not only entertained thoroughly, but provided plenty of unexpected moments that makes me all the more anxious to see how the new trilogy concludes in 2019. “Star Wars”: The Last Jedi” is the film that fans have been waiting for as it contains all of the best elements of Star Wars and boldly moves the franchise ahead.
😂

Jesus. That kind of knob-slobbering is reserved for fanboys, not "professional" movie critics. If Ebert had said anything like that prior to his demise, his contemporaries would have wondered if he'd suffered a head injury. I've never clicked on that link and I never will. Sorry, I'm a fairly pleasant guy most days but it really pisses me off when someone comes to a forum not to contribute but to try to drag people over to their own site for an ego trip, page-clicks, or whatever. If you're legit, people will find you. Otherwise, you're a Wordpress nobody.

Here - exactly what I was talking about on that other thread. TLJ sets up absolutely nothing well, it just leaves the trilogy with nowhere to go and no breathing space because whatever followed had to create an entire narrative to finish a trilogy!
Compare that with the OT:-
We know where the next film - in a trilogy - will be going...

I think the OP is a brother of Johnson. If not I would love to know what drugs he was taking?
