Discuss The Fisher King

A straight conversion of an Arthurian legend? It doesn't appear to match the story.

A comedy? Barely raised a titter.

A romance? Both main relationships are (intentionally?) absurd. It is unclear why Jack decides he is in love at the end.

A drama? Where was the tension or jeopardy? Only the third best grail quest film after Indiana Jones and Monty Python.

Pure entertainment or social commentary? It seems like it is trying to say something about society at times, but in a rather vague way that I can't decipher? If it's pure entertainment only, then why is it so long and why the links to a legend?

Not trolling, just confused. It is fairly diverting despite its issues but I have zero idea what I am meant to take from it.

Love this film. The scene in the Chinese restaurant when the camera slowly pulls back as Parry sings Lydia is one of my all time favourite scenes.

... Also the Grand Central waltzing scene! Beautiful piece of cinema that.
