It's widely known that Spielberg purchase the rights to Tintin after a French critic compared _Raiders_to Tintin's comic book adventures. The French critic thought it was a major source despite Spielberg never having heard of Tintin until reading that review.
It took Spielberg dacades to finally produce the film. Now, I think it turned out pretty solid, especially story wise. The overall feel of the film is in fact very Indy-like. Even the music sounds straight out of the former just lacking the Raiders March (I'm mean it is John Williams).
I even dare to say, if they used this screenplay for an Indiana Jones film, it could have turned out to be among the best of the series.

yeah, it kinda has an Indiana Jones feel but more on other Tintin comics like the Inca story with the eclipse - Crystal Ball or Prisoners of the Sun.
I enjoyed the film - though it's not for everyone I guess, some were expecting a kiddie film. Hoping to get more made!
