Item: Inland Empire

Language: en

Extra Details: The original title for this film should be 'INLAND EMPIRE' not 'Inland Empire'. Every time someone corrects it, someone else changes it back. Here's three reviews from the time of its original release that mention David Lynch's insistence that it all be capitalised. http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2007/03/05/inland_empire_2007_review.shtml https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/movie-reviews/inland-empire-247234/ https://www.gamesradar.com/inland-empire-review/

Even with his insistence, it seems the all Caps usage is very, very limited. Opening credits title is of course in all Caps, but that is true for other titles where we keep the regular title (I just can't come up with an example now). lifter_tone1

However, the fact that such a notable title is still unlocked and the title undecided, is not good. I have locked it with the 99,9 percent used title for now. I would not be totally against using the stylized title, but it seems there is not enough reason to change it. Usually a title is clearly indicated in the press materials, which then becomes the title used in reviews and articles. But it's of course possible that most outlets decided to use the regular title in any case. I'll let some other moderator make the final decision so don't give up just yet! snail

Right, opening credit titles are often in all caps. I'm guessing we could find plenty of press material with the title written in ALL CAPS, but that is also true for a lot of normally capitalized titles.

I would agree with a title change, though. It might not be consistently capitalized, but many, many review, articles, festivals and whatnot mention the all-cap thing and/or use the stylized capitalization. duck

Maybe a comparison would be mother! - even though that one was a bit more straight-forward due to the lower case M being more easily noted.
