Discuss Iron Man

It's weird going back to this one and seeing Terrence Howard as Rhodey. He was actually pretty good in the role!

RDJ owning the part from the start and forever!

It seems like such a simple film now compared to all the crossover shenanigans to come.

A solid 7/10

Even back then it seemed a very simple film. That was my problem with it.

In comparison to what we'd been getting at the time (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, X-Men series, The Hulk, Sam Raimi's Spidermans) it felt very basic and artistically empty. I felt it took the comic book movie back a step and so I wasn't a big fan of what it represented.

Not that I hate it, it's an enjoyable film for what it is. And the MCU would become more creatively interesting as it went along.

I kinda agree with you, in fact after this recent viewing I lowered my original rating down from 8 to 7.

So far on my re-watching of the series Captain America: The First Avenger has stood the test of time best.

Other than the first Avengers film I haven't seen any of the early MCU films a 2nd time. But I should give Iron Man and Captain America another watch at some point. Knowing what comes after I might enjoy Iron Man more.
