Thomas Fiorinis Leben läuft eigentlich in ziemlich geregelten Bahnen: Er besitzt eines der erfolgreichsten Bauunternehmen des Landes und ist ein wichtiges Mitglied der örtlichen Gemeinde. Er hat Geld, eine wunderschöne Frau und auch ein erstes Kind ist unterwegs. Doch das Blatt wendet sich, als sein Vorarbeiter Matt und sein Zulieferer Tony anfangen, sich um eine Spitzenposition im Unternehmen zu streiten. Nach einem Kampf mit Tony verschwindet Matt spurlos und Thomas, der das Schlimmste befürchtet, feuert daraufhin Tony. Es folgt eine Teufelsspirale aus offenen Konfrontationen und heimlichen Verdächtigungen, während Thomas immer paranoider wird und Angst hat, dass seine Entscheidung, Tony zu feuern, nochmal auf gewalttätige Art und Weise auf ihn zurückfallen könnte.
